Compliance and Firearm Training Officer Job Vacancy
Servest Security is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Compliance and Firearm Training Officer to join its training team in Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that security personnel, firearm-related activities, training programmes, and operational procedures comply with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, company policies, and client specifications.
A key part of the role is ensuring strict compliance with the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, while ensuring that security personnel remain properly trained, competent, and compliant with required standards.
Minimum Requirements
To apply for the Compliance and Firearm Training Officer position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practitioner (ODETDP) qualification.
- Valid and updated SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate.
- National Key Point accreditation.
- Registered SASSETA Assessor.
- Registered Firearm Accredited Training Officer with PFTC.
- Qualified Range Officer.
- Registered PSIRA Grade A Instructor.
- At least 2 years of security operational experience.
- At least 3 years of training experience as a Facilitator, Assessor, or Moderator.
- At least 2 years of Facilitator and Assessor experience.
- At least 2 years of Range Officer experience.
- Strong firearm specialist knowledge.
- Training and facilitation skills.
- Assessment and competency evaluation experience.
- Compliance and auditing skills.
- Riot and Intervention training will be advantageous.
- Own reliable vehicle.
- Clear criminal record.
Compliance and Firearm Training Officer Responsibilities
Training Planning and Implementation
- Plan, schedule, and implement compliance and operational training programmes according to company requirements.
- Align training interventions with the company’s Skills Matrix and client-specific requirements.
- Identify key training needs and ensure appropriate interventions are planned and implemented.
- Conduct and facilitate compliance, operational, and firearm-related training.
- Provide on-the-job and off-the-job coaching to improve employee knowledge, skills, competency, and overall performance.
Assessment and Competency Management
- Prepare learners for assessments.
- Conduct formative assessments in accordance with applicable training requirements.
- Assess employee competency and identify areas requiring further development.
- Provide accurate and timely feedback to learners and management.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes.
- Recommend improvements to training content, materials, and delivery methods.
Training Materials and Records
- Work with the Training Administrator to compile and maintain training materials.
- Maintain accurate learner documentation and attendance records.
- Maintain training evaluation reports and supporting documentation.
- Design, review, and maintain relevant and legally compliant training materials.
- Maintain prescribed training and compliance records.
- Ensure daily attendance registers are completed accurately.
- Maintain Firearm Control Registers and Shooting Range Registers.
Moderation and Reporting
- Conduct moderation activities and complete moderation reports.
- Ensure all required moderation documentation is maintained.
- Prepare and submit monthly training, compliance, and operational reports within the required deadlines.
- Provide management with accurate information regarding training outcomes and competency gaps.
- Escalate significant compliance risks, non-compliance issues, and findings to management promptly.
Firearm Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities
The Compliance and Firearm Training Officer will play an important role in maintaining firearm and security compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure strict adherence to applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and client requirements.
- Maintain particular focus on the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (FCA) and related firearm-control requirements.
- Monitor compliance with approved training standards.
- Monitor firearm-control procedures and requirements.
- Ensure training activities comply with applicable standards and legal requirements.
- Identify firearm training and compliance gaps.
- Recommend and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor outstanding compliance findings.
- Follow up on corrective actions to ensure they are implemented and closed within the required timeframes.
