Salary: R10,616.35 (Basic Salary, excluding benefits)
Type: Permanent Position
Minimum Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Valid PSIRA Registration (Grade C or higher)
- Minimum of 1-year relevant security experience
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work shifts and weekends
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- No criminal record
Primary Purpose of the Job
The Security Officer will be responsible for access control, patrolling, guarding, and operating security systems. The role ensures the safety of employees, visitors, assets, and information within Joburg City Theatres facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol and secure entrances, windows, and access points
- Monitor CCTV systems and respond to incidents promptly
- Enforce all security policies, procedures, and regulations
- Control access for staff, visitors, and vehicles
- Issue and collect access control permits
- Escort visitors within the building
- Operate walkthrough detection systems and prevent unauthorized items from entering
- Register and secure private firearms in the firearm safe facility
- Conduct baggage X-ray examinations
- Record all private property brought into the building
- Verify asset removal permits for all items leaving the premises
- Respond to electronic security system alerts
- Inspect and test electronic systems during shifts
- Record and report all security breaches
- Conduct office inspections for compliance
- Secure vulnerable assets found in risk areas
- Inspect building perimeters and electronic systems at the start and end of shifts
- Conduct vehicle searches when necessary
- Perform any other reasonable security duties as required
