Marist Brothers Linmeyer is offering an incredible opportunity for aspiring teachers to gain valuable on-the-job training while completing their education degree. Starting 1 January 2026, this learnership is ideal for committed and passionate student teachers ready to begin their teaching journey.

About the Learnership

The school is looking for four enthusiastic student teachers to join its team. This learnership allows participants to work in a professional school environment while studying towards their Bachelor of Education (BEd) or Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through a distance-learning programme.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in their third or fourth year of a BEd degree or registered for a PGCE.
  • Specialise in one of these phases: ECD/Foundation, Intermediate, Senior, or FET (Further Education and Training).
  • Be a South African citizen.

Placement and Subjects

Successful candidates will be placed as follows:

  • One Primary School (ECD/Foundation Phase) candidate.
  • One Primary School (Intersen Phase) candidate, majoring in Mathematics, English, and IT.
  • Two High School (Senior and FET Phase) candidates, majoring in Sciences or Mathematics.

Key Competencies Required

Ideal candidates must:

  • Be disciplined and committed to balancing work and distance learning.
  • Participate actively in the school’s extra-curricular programme.
  • Show enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation in teaching.
  • Support the Catholic, Marist ethos of the school.
  • Be open to feedback and committed to professional growth.
  • Align with the school’s transformation, equity, and belonging goals to foster an inclusive environment.
