Job Description:
We are seeking an Assistant Supervisor to assist a Foreman with work on a construction site. The individual will help with oversight as construction work is performed, fill out paperwork (Permit To Work, Daily Safe Task Instructions, etc.), take measurements for quotations and claim purposes, and perform simple math calculations. Additionally, the person will need to assist with moving materials and tools and represent the company in Daily Activity Briefing Sessions.
This position is ideal for a young man who is sharp and eager to learn about construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising activities
- Filling out and submitting paperwork
- Conducting measurements of completed work or for quotations
- Performing simple area/volume calculations based on measurements
- Representing the company in safety meetings
- Moving materials and tools
- Electronic communication (emails/WhatsApp)
- The individual will need to climb MANY stairs
Critical Requirements:
- Integrity and honesty
- Literacy
- Dexterity and basic math skills
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
- Initiative
- Driver’s license (preferred)
- Construction background
Working Hours and Conditions:
- Normal Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:00 – 16:00
- Every Second Friday: 07:00 – 13:15
- Overtime may be required, but not on a regular basis
Compensation and Benefits:
- Monthly Salary: R7,000.00
- Overtime Pay: 1.5x
- Payment Frequency: Bi-weekly
- Annual Leave: 1 day for every 17 days worked
- Sick Leave: 30 days in a 3-year cycle
- Maternity Leave: 4 months as per Labor Law (Female)
Growth Opportunities:
With sufficient experience, you can progress to a Foreman or Construction Estimator, and further to Senior Estimator or Project Management.
Training:
Two days of OH&S training with certificates in relevant safety procedures. The monetary value of the training is approximately R5,000.
